Architecture
Microservices, from the channel to the national switch
POS machines, mobile apps and ATMs connect through the Baran Adapter API to the Baran Payment Engine, and Baran Switch connects the engine to APS.
01The flow
Four hops, one transaction
Channel to Adapter API
A POS machine, mobile app or ATM sends the transaction to the Baran Adapter API.
Payment Engine
The Baran Payment Engine processes it according to its type.
Baran Switch
Baran Switch sends it to APS, the national switch, as an ISO 8583 message.
Bank, EMI or PI
APS routes it to the institution that answers, and the response travels back the same way.
02The services
Three services, three jobs
03The network
Connected to banks, EMIs and PIs through APS
APS is the Afghanistan Payments System, the national switch. Because Baran Switch is integrated with it, a transaction from your channel can reach any institution connected to APS.
04Foundations
Standards and security
ISO 8583
The platform fully supports ISO 8583 messages.
Microservices
The Adapter API, Payment Engine and Switch each have one job.
